HomeFreeTrade.com is a typical example of how the development of internet has made it possible to better satisfy essential needs of families and individuals around the world. The "need" which we cater to is of course "finding a home".

At present our service is still expanding but it already covers a major part of the European Union ...

A short history on the reasons for our existance ...
In the 1990′s, the founder of our company had a profession which often required him to move his family to different parts of the world. He quickly realised that he was devoting enormous time and money to finding new homes. It made no sense to pay huge fees to real estate agencies when all you get is basically assistance in organising numerous, time consuming visits of houses ... and ultimately finding that the great majority don′t meet your needs.

If one wanted to avoid paying agency fees, the only other option was to look for advertisements by owners in newspapers. These are very few in number, have little detail and generally only concerned small local newspapers. This approach, although more economical, doesn′t avoid the need for multiple property visits ... and doesn′t work when you need to find a home before moving to a new location.

The traditional process of home searching is innefficient and the use of real estate agencies has become unjustifiably expensive (typicaly 6 % of the property value).

It was clear then that what was needed was a system which allows "remote viewing of maximum property details but with direct owner contact so as to by-pass the unnecessary agency fees".

At the time we were convinced that, with the increasing popularity of internet this type of service would soon appear. We were partly right.
In the USA, a few clumsy "For Sale By Owner" web sites began to appear at the end of the 1990′s .. these rapidly improved and gradually shifted the market away from real estate agencies.

However ... 10 years later, in Europe there has been hardly any developments in this area.
Language issues alone are insufficient to explain the delay since, technically, intenet poses no linguistic barrier, and travel across the EU has continuously been facilitated through new laws (Maastricht, Schengen, common currency, ... etc).

Enough waiting ... next came the birth of HomeFreeTrade.com ...
